The Mitutoyo Technology Solutions Group takes the well-established Points From Focus (PFF) technology to another level with a high-speed 3D imaging system. PFF is a 3D measurement technology which uses a stack of images in the focus direction to create a point cloud.
The traditional method of capturing and processing the image stack limits the inspection throughput in many applications. The new high-speed system eliminates the bottlenecks for PFF and similar 3D data capture techniques by utilizing Mitutoyo’s patented varifocal lens technology TAGLENS and embedded high-speed image processing.
This new PFF technology scans and measures a multitude of components and surface attributes including surface topography and gathers 3D data points. This leads to faster, more efficient quality control while reducing costs and increasing throughput and flexibility across many applications and industries.
