In this easy tutorial I will show you how to draw an expressive blue butterfly with soft pastels on sandpaper.
I am using 800 grit sandpaper and Rembrandt soft pastels.
First I apply a dark blue soft pastel and wash it down with water. This will give me a darker color background than if I were to add the pastel dry,
Next I sketch out the butterfly with a pastel pencil and start adding colors to the wings, taking into consideration the veins.
