S2-E4 Pedernales Falls State Park day trip with Chris and Tammy. Lots of hiking for a couple of old full time rv lifers.
Hi we are Tammy and Chris. In this video we take a day trip to the beautiful, Pedernales Falls State Park in the awesome Texas Hill Country. We start the day by checking out the Falls area, and as blown away by that as we were, we then headed to our favorite part of the park, the swim area. There was so much beauty in both locations that we went to and really loved hiking the trails, while taking in the scenery, wildlife, flowers and the beautiful river.
The park is 5,212-acres and sits along the banks of the scenic Pedernales River in Blanco County east of Johnson City, Texas. The Pedernales River can be turbulent, flowing over and around huge slabs of limestone. But it is mostly tranquil, and a great place to relax and recharge. We sure did.
We went for a day trip but you can camp there, and some sites have water and even 30amp pedestals. You can also hike, mountain bike, picnic, geocache, bird watch and even ride horses. And on the river, you can swim, wade, tube, & fish, except in the Pedernales falls due to safety risks. If you love nature, this is a great place to visit.
**But beware, access to the swimming area is a strenuous 1/4-mile, or so hike. We hiked down some pretty steep rock stairs with no handrail, and back up. I’m proud of us old timers :-)
