The Nevada Electrical Contractor License is a requirement for anyone looking to bid on electrical installation, repair or design projects over $500.
To Construct, Alter, Repair, add to, subtract from, Improve, Move, Wreck, or Demolish any building, Highway, Road, Railroad classifies you as a Contractor and you must be licensed.
The Nevada State Contractors Board is the governing agency for electrical contractors in the state of Nevada
You will first need to meet the basic Nevada contractor license requirements:
-18 years of age
-Driver’s License or USA ID
-Social Security
-Not Currently on Probation or Parole
-Be a legal business entity
In addition to these basic requirements. To get the Nevada contractor license you must also have to have at least 4 years of journeyman level experience in a trade. Electrical license requirements are especially strict as this area of construction deals directly with the public.
To get licensed and bonded in Nevada you will need someone who can sign off on your experience. Journeyman level experience is gained working unsupervised performing all of the duties associated with electrical installation or repair.
The Contractor license is for experienced journeyman who does not need to be taught anything the electrical construction trade.
Nevada contractors are expected to have achieved a certain level of mastery and must know how to engage in this type of work. The responsibility of the Nevada state contractors board is to protect the consumer public from contractors who may not have the experience or safety knowledge required.
The entire process to get a Nevada contractor license fluctuates on a variety of different factors. In some cases, it can take up to 6 months.
