The NDA government wants to amend the present law on Child Labour (Child Labour (Prohibition & Regulation) Act) in the monsoon session of the Parliament in view of bringing tough provisions to clamp down on child labour. The cabinet has already approved the amendments.
On the other hand, critics say that by bringing the amended bill, the government is on the way of giving legal recognition to child labour.
