The Tucson fails to compete
The Tucson fails to compete with best-selling SUVs like the Toyota RAV4, which is nearly twice as popular as the Tucson. Still, it has been a huge success for Hyundai, indicating that customers weren't turned off by the odd styling choices.
This is why, for the small SUV's mid-life makeover, Hyundai has chosen to mostly keep things the same. Of course, we won't know for sure until Hyundai removes the bulky fabric disguise panels it so frequently attaches to its prototypes, and then only at an exceptionally late stage in the testing process. However, the reduced camouflage on this SUV's frontend indicates that the only exterior upgrades will be new headlights and maybe a new grille and bumper.
Before, we speculated that Hyundai might equip the Tucson with a full-width light bar, as it has done with the Elantra facelift and the new Kona. Images suggest that the segmented DRLs and fang-style rear light clusters of the current SUV will remain mostly unchanged for the next generation model.
