The Chiba Urban Monorail (千葉都市モノレール, Chiba Toshi Monorēru) is a two-line suspended monorail system situated in Chiba, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. Operated and owned by Chiba Urban Monorail Co., Ltd (千葉都市モノレール株式会社, Chiba toshi monorēru kabushikigaisha), a "third-sector" company established on March 20, 1979, with investments from the city of Chiba.
The initial section, Line 2 running from Sports Center Station to Chishirodai Station, commenced operations on March 28, 1988. Subsequent segments were opened, completing the entire system by March 24, 1999. Fares can be conveniently purchased using the PASMO contactless smart card.
Notably, the Chiba Urban Monorail holds the distinction of being the world's longest suspended monorail system, boasting a track length of 15.2 kilometers (9.4 mi).
