Learn about TED-Ed (http://ed.ted.com), the newest program from TED (http://ted.com). Discover how you can use this online learning platform to learn and also to turn any youtube video into a locally relevant and globally accessible lesson. This talk provides illustrations and examples of how this profoundly evolutionary tool in online learning and teaching can improve and motivate students and teachers across the globe.
Former TED Fellow and current Director of TED-Ed, Logan Smalley employs his background as a documentarian and teacher to develop and explore the potential of video as a supplementary learning tool in classrooms around the world. TED-Ed videos can be utilized by individuals for their own learning enjoyment or custom tooled by teachers to educate their students.
This talk was given at TEDxRainier in Seattle on November 10, 2012. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
