SPINCAST Fishing BIG Smallmouth in a RIVER from SHORE

Fishing for big Smallmouth Bass from shore on a river...with a Spincast Reel? Bought this for my wife, but had to give it a try. It was fun, but I'll stick with a Spinning or a Casting reel next time. The 4.3:1 gear ratio was pretty lame. I did catch some real nice fish though.
