Washing Hands
Practicing good hygiene helps you avoid getting sick all the time. Basic personal hygiene includes washing hands before eating, after using the bathroom, playing outside, blowing your nose and sneezing, and covering their mouth when they cough. Encourage your child to wash their hands with soap and water for about 20 seconds because most germs are spread through hand contact. Regularly washing hands will help them build the habit of washing. Children learn from examples, so make sure you wash your hands often too. Helping them learn these basic hygiene skills becomes easier for them to practice when they grow up.

Brushing and Flossing
Children should brush their teeth twice a day morning and before bedtime. Use toothpaste with fluoride and put an amount the size of a grain or two of rice on the brush. Flossing is also important and it’s recommended to do it once a day to avoid bacteria building up between teeth and causing cavities and gum disease as well as other dental issues.

Showering and Clothing
Children need daily baths or showers. For younger children, you can include baths or showering at the end of the day as part of their bedtime routine. Children’s hair should be washed one or two times a week, or more often if they have oily hair. Nails should be trimmed once a week for both fingernails and toenails using a nail cutter. In between trims, keep an eye on the dirt under nails and avoid using your mouth to cut nails. Facial cleanliness is important, and you have to wash your face every morning before going out. Use soap or face wash and clean water to remove dirt and oil.

Clean Clothes
Wearing clean clothes is also a big part of children’s hygiene. Underwear and socks should be changed daily, and the clothes they are wearing should not have any smell. This also helps them avoid other kids picking on them. If clothing smells or has visible dirt on it, it should be washed before it is worn again.

Teenage Body Care
Teenagers need a little bit more body care. When children transition into teens and are not under their parents' care as much, they need to be taught to take care of their bodies. Continuing the practices we have mentioned above and adding more body care, such as showering daily and using deodorant or antiperspirant as needed. This will help them smell fresh and control body odor. Wearing colognes or perfumes without showers can worsen the smell and cause discomfort to people around them.
