Are you ready for some fun in the kitchen?! Grab your apron because we're going to show you how to make candy sushi! Badtz-Maru loves being a trickster, so we've decided to put a sweet twist on classic sushi. Below you will find a list of materials needed, product purchase links, and detailed instructions on how to make candy sushi! Make sure to ask an adult for help if you use a knife! Let's get cookin'. Here we go:
Materials you’ll need
- Rice Krispie (homemade or store-bought)
- Knife
- Round cookie cutter
- Fruit tape
- Fruit leather
- Chewy fruit candy
- Red fish candy
- Optional: sushi rolling mat
Oh, and don’t forget to wash your hands!
Step-by-step instructions: Let’s make Salmon Nigiri first!
(00:57) Step 1: Cut your Rice Krispie into smaller pieces
(01:06) Step 2: Cut your Rice Krispie like this and set it aside
(01:15) Step 3: Take two orange candies and mash them together. This is going to be our piece of fish.
Tip: microwave the candy for five seconds to soften it
(01:25) Step 4: Take a straightedge and put some grooves in your candy
(01:29) Step 5: Grab a piece of fruit leather and cut off a narrow strip to wrap around our sushi
(01:46) Step 6: Shape a small piece of Rice Krispie with your hands around the corners
(01:53) Step 7: Place the candy on top and wrap the fruit leather around the Rice Krispie
Now let’s make Ikeda Rolls!
02:04) Step 1: First, we’re going to use the round cookie cutter to cut out a piece of Rice Krispie
(2:43) Step 2: Take a candy fish and chop it up in small even pieces
(2:51) Step 3: Use your round Rice Krispie as a guide to cut a strip of fruit leather
(03:01) Step 4: Load up your roll with the little bits of fish
Lastly, we’re making Tekka Maki rolls or tuna rolls!
(03:12) Step 1: Cut a 4x16 square of Rice Krispie and flatten it out
(03:28) Step 2: Take your red fruit tape and fold it up, add one more piece
(03:37) Step 3: Squish both pieces together and roll it until it’s one big piece (03:54) Step 4: Grab your sushi rolling mat or use your hands to combine the fruit leather, Rice Krispie and fruit tape together
(04:08) Step 5: Ask an adult for help and cut the roll into smaller pieces
