Dr. Nicholas Tullo was the first in New Jersey to implant the Medtronic Reveal Linq.  Dr. Tullo heads the New Jersey Center for Fainting (njfaint.com), and is a partner at Consultants in Cardiology in West Orange, NJ.  This was Dr. Tullo's eighth implant of the Linq, performed at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livington, NJ. The infra-mammary approach shown in this video results in excellent sensing and is more acceptable from a cosmetic standpoint in women than the recommended implant location in the 4th intercostal space. The patient's head is to the right.  The chest is first mapped in detail to ensure an adequately sized electrogram from that region of the chest wall. IV Versed is used for sedation.  Lidocaine is infiltrated generously in the region and along the direction of the device.  Give the lidocaine at least 5 minutes to take effect. The incision (made with a scalpel, not with the provided puncture tool) is made along the inferomedial margin of the left breast and the device is directed medially towards the right shoulder. The incision was then sealed with Dermabond and Steri-Strips are applied for protection.
