依河而建的百年侨墟 | 台山白沙墟

白沙墟，由黄、马、余三姓建于清雍正年间，距今已有二百多年的历史。这里地处潭江支流白沙河河床，河岸堆满白色的石英砂，故名白沙。

上世纪二三十年代，白沙墟陆路可通火车、水路可通轮船，商铺林立、生意兴隆，银号就有十多间，是白沙墟最为鼎盛的时期。

Baisha Market was built by Huang, Ma, and Yu during the Qing Dynasty, and has a history of more than 200 years.It is located on the riverbed of the Baisha River, a tributary of the Tanjiang River.  The river bank is filled with white quartz sand, hence the name Baisha.

In the 1920s and 1930s, the railway and steamship were available in the land and waterway of Baisha Market, with numerous shops and prosperous business.  There were more than ten banks, which was the most prosperous period of Baisha Market.
