In this clip, Shawn Prez started off asking Roland Martin if he still has a relationship with Barack Obama, and Roland stated that they don’t have one. He added that Obama has never liked criticism from Black media, which Roland experienced when he criticized Obama when he was a Senator. Roland added, “Ain’t nobody above being hit,” and he went on to speak about Obama being upset about an article he wrote criticizing him for not having more Black people in his press office. Roland added that he’s always going to fight for Black media, and he went on to state that he wasn’t there to be friends with the Obama. Roland then spoke about interviewing the Obamas in 2009, and he explained that he was more disappointed in Michelle Obama because she promised him an exit interview. Roland added that Michelle said it again in 2016, and when it never happened, Roland stated that he was very disappointed. Roland stated that he thinks it was important for the Obamas to sit with Black media before they left office.
