Making EDIBLE Slime!

Here is what you need:
🍬 6 jumbo marshmallows
🍬 1 tbsp cooking oil
🍬 1 tbsp cornstarch

Put the marshmallows in a microwave safe bowl and pour the oil on top. Microwave on high for 30 seconds. Add the cornstarch and mix.

✨What’s the Science✨

Have you ever noticed that when you put marshmallows in the microwave they start to expand? In this experiment, as your marshmallows heat up in the microwave, the water molecules inside are also heated and move farther apart. This is why a marshmallow increases in size in the microwave! When you add the cornstarch you may have noticed your marshmallow slime beginning to form as a thick stretchy substance. This is because cornstarch is a natural thickener! As the slime begins to cool, you may also notice it begins to harden again. This occurs as the water molecules become closer together again!
