The risks of selling on
The risks of selling on Bring-A-Trailer are scary. But there is a right way to do it.
In this video series, I'm documenting the process of selling my own 1969 Porsche 911T hot rod on Bring-A-Trailer. I've toyed with the idea of selling on Bring-A-Trailer as a way to sell my air cooled Porsches in the past...but the risk has been really intimidating for me. So...I've sought out the help of a BaT auction consignor to help me (hopefully) maximize my sale while passing this '69T along to the next caretaker.
And in this specific video, I interview Patrick Putkowski of The Patina Group, someone with extensive experience selling on Bring-A-Trailer. In fact, he has sold +/- 170 collectible cars on Bring-A-Trailer so he knows what works and what doesn't.
Given that much of the focus of my channel is air cooled Porsche ownership experience, I thought it would just make sense to share my experience in selling this car on BaT. It's a little nerve-wracking to deal with the auction as well as share with the viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the process...but at the same time transparency is crucial.
Background on the car:
I've had a great experience with this 69 hot rod. The car has a 2.8 MFI motor and it's a screamer. I've done a bunch of local drives as well as a rallye in which I drove the car over 1,000 miles in the course of 4 days. It performed flawlessly.
That said, I have multiple 911's along with a 981 Cayman S and it's time to make a little room in my garage and focus on some other projects I have in mind.
Some of the key features of this Ossi Blue Porsche 911T Hot Rod:
- Recent glass out Ossi Blue paint job (original factory color) with complete rust repair
- 2.8 MFI Motor
- 44 row mocal cooler with Elephant Racing Hard lines and a factory thermostat
- Documentation on motor rebuild
- Front hood and fenders PPF'd
- Brand new GTS Classic LeMans seats
- Refreshed gauges (10K tach)
- 16" Group 4 Aluminum LMZ wheels
- Audette collection LED headlights
I have done a number of videos documenting my journey with this early 911 hot rod, and I'll link the playlist below. When I first found the car, I had a good, solid base from which to build it exactly the way I wanted it, so I did...and shared it on this channel.
