In this student/teacher tutorial we learn about a three level reading guide. This guide helps students read more effectively and take responsibility for comprehending different levels of text. In the video we define what each of these levels are (literal, inferential and evaluative) and walk through an analysis using an image (courtesy of Shaun Tan).
The aim of this tutorial is to teach both students and teachers about the three level reading guide to help create a greater understanding of effective reading strategies and skills. Three level reading is especially helpful to create independence in reading/interpreting texts and is a great approach to reading for all year levels.
