Who was Nebuchadnezzar II? One of the most famous Babylonian kings, thanks to his appearances in the Hebrew Bible, Nebuchandezzar II is known to most as a despotic ruler who destroyed Jerusalem, exiled the Hebrew people, and then went mad before acknowledging the superiority of YHWH. But who was he really? In this video, I take a look at the different sources known to us from Mesopotamia, the Hebrew Bible, and Greek historians.

EDIT: Herodotus lived in the 5th c. BCE, not the 4th.

NOTE: This is not intended to be an exhaustive study, and there are things I have left out for the sake of brevity!
