Intro to Lean Six Sigma Metrics (Defects per Opportunity, Process Cycle Efficiency, Lead Time, etc.)

In Lean Six Sigma, we can measure our process in terms of (1) time, (2) cost, and (3) quality.  When measuring time, we could use process lead time, which is the time it takes the process to complete after an order is received, and process cycle efficiency, which is value-added time divided by lead time.  When measuring cost, we could use the cost of poor quality (COPQ), which is the financial impact of our defects.  Finally, when measuring quality, we could use defects per unit (DPU), defects per opportunity (DPO), or defects per million opportunities (DPMO).
