Tidal flow in the North Sea and in the Scheldt estuary

SLIM is able to seamlessly simulate environmental flows over a broad range of scales. Here we simulate the tidal propagation in the North Sea. By locally increasing the model resolution in the Scheldt estuary, we can simulate the propagation of the tidal signal in the estuary and the in the branching river network. The use of wetting & drying algorithm allows us to represent emerging sandbanks at low tide (shown in black).
