As SC quashes remission for Bilkis Bano gang rape convicts, abridged Ep 1059 on what the issue was

The Supreme Court Monday quashed Gujarat government’s decision to allow remission of 11 convicts in the case of the gangerape of Bilkis Bano and the murder of seven of her family members during the 2002 Gujarat riots, which broke out in the state in the aftermath of the Godhra train burning incident. In Ep 1059 of #CutTheClutter, originally published on 18 August, 2022 Editor-in-Chief Shekhar Gupta discussed the 1992 Remission policy which led to this decision & the dark implications of the decision.
