Watercolor Dragonfly slow, step-by-step tutorial
Watercolor Dragonfly slow, step-by-step tutorial for beginners.
Creating an easy dragonfly using the side of your paintbrush and some glazing for a blended, beautiful color.
I am using a wet-in-wet technique, making sure you are starting g with a damp wash layer no puddles; if you go in while the wings are wet, you will get the soft feathering and blending without needing the push-pull technique. This creates a soft, beautiful, and delicate effect.
I also left the paper's whites for interest at the base of the wings, just as I do with many of my flower petals.
For the body, You can either use one long brush stroke starting thicker and lifting your brush as you get to the end of the body for a thick to a thin line, or you can use dabs for that segmented body! Both are fun. Then go in and dab some dark purple in the body here and there. Please ensure first to touch the tip of your brush onto your paper towel to remove excess paint and water so you do not get puddles.
