On the eve of the
On the eve of the 2023 Princess of Asturias Awards Ceremony, King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain, accompanied by the Princess of Asturias, Princess Leonor and the Infanta Dona Sofía, presided over the 31st Princess of Asturias Awards Concert at the Princess of Asturias Awards Auditorium in Oviedo as a prelude to the Princess of Asturias Awards Ceremony.
On their arrival at the "Príncipe Felipe" Conference Centre Auditorium in Oviedo, the Royal Family was received by the President of the Principality of Asturias, Adrián Barbón; the President of the General Assembly of the Principality of Asturias, Juan Cofiño; the Government delegate in the Autonomous Community of the Principality of Asturias, Delia Losa; the Mayor of Oviedo, Alfredo Canteli; the President of the Princess of Asturias Foundation, Ana Isabel Fernández; and by the Director of the Princess of Asturias Foundation, Teresa Sanjurjo; and regional and local authorities; and a representation of the trustees of the CajAstur Foundation and the board of directors of Liberbank.
Afterwards, Royal family took their places in the box of honour and the National Anthem was played.
The Princess of Asturias Awards concert, organised by the CajAstur Foundation and the Princess of Asturias Foundation, organised by the Principality of Asturias Symphony Orchestra and the Princess of Asturias Foundation Choir, and conducted by Maestro Martyn Brabbins, performed "Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis and Dona nobis pacem by Ralph Vaughan Williams". concluding with the Anthem of Asturias.
The Royal Family was then greeted by the president of the National Monarchist Brotherhood of Spain, José Fernández, on the occasion of the exhibition "The King in the eyes of Spanish painters", which the Auditorium is hosting during these days; They also shared a few moments with the staff of the Principality of Asturias Symphony Orchestra and the Princess of Asturias Foundation Choir.
To conclude, King Felipe and Queen Letizia and their daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia, held a meeting with members of the Extraordinary Awards for Academic Performance in Non-University Education and with those with the best Baccalaureate Evaluation Records for University Access.
On Friday, October 20, King Felipe and Queen Letizia, accompanied by the Princess of Asturias and the Infanta Sofia, will begin the day by receiving in audience, at the Hotel Reconquista, the winners of the "Medals of Asturias 2023"; to the winners of the "End of Degree 2022" awards of the University of Oviedo; and the Presidents of the Princess of Asturias Awards Juries, members of the Board of Trustees and Emeritus Trustees and, finally, the Laureates of the 2023 Princess of Asturias Awards, on whom King Felipe will impose the Foundation's insignia.
In the afternoon, the 2023 Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony will be held at the Campoamor Theatre in Oviedo.
