در زمانی که رضاشاه تصمیم گرفت وقت ازدواج دخترانش فرا رسیده اشرف هفده سال داشت و خواهر بزرگترش شمس هجده ساله بود. بدون اطلاع دو دختر، رضاشاه نخست وزیر وقت محمود جم را مامور کرده بود سیاهه ای از پسران واجد شرایط ازدواج با دختر پادشاه را از میان فرزندان خانواده های پر نفوذ و پر ثروت و خوشنام ایران فراهم کند. در کار تدارک این سیاهه، جم بالاخره بر آن شد که نام فرزند خود فریدون را هم بر فهرست نامها بیفزاید. رضاشاه در عین حال دستور داده بود جم تصویر هر یک از این واجدان شرایط دامادی پادشاه را نیز همراه نام و وصف هر یک فراهم کند ،…

When Reza Shah decided it was time for his daughters to get married, Ashraf was seventeen years old and his older sister Shams was eighteen years old. Without the knowledge of the two girls, Reza Shah had commissioned the then Prime Minister Mahmoud Jam to provide a list of sons eligible to marry the king's daughter from among the children of influential, wealthy and well-known Iranian families. In the process of preparing this list, Jam finally decided to add the name of his son Fereydoun to the list of names. At the same time, Reza Shah had ordered to provide a picture of each of these candidates for the king's son-in-law along with the name and description of each one.
