Naveen Patnaik News Live: ଭାଙ୍ଗିଯିବ ବିଜେଡି ? | EX BJD MP Mamata Mahanta Joins BJP | BJD | Odia News Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar informed the Rajya Sabha about Mahanta's resigantion. Dhankhar said her resignation had been accepted.
Mahanta, elected to Rajya Sabha in 2020, had to be in office till April 2026. She resigned ahead of one year and nine months.
In a letter to BJD president Naveen Patnaik, Mahant said she resigned from the Rajya Sabha membership as she felt that services of her and her community were not required in the Biju Janata Dal.
