ملک اَیاز (درگذشته ۴۴۹ هـ.
ملک اَیاز (درگذشته ۴۴۹ هـ. ق) پسر آیماق ابوالنجم، با نام کامل ابوالنجم ایاز بن اویماق یک برده تُرک‌تبار بود که علاقه سلطان محمود غزنوی به او مشهور است. او در سپاه و دربار محمود غزنوی به مقامات بالا رسید
پس از مرگ سلطان محمود، اشتهار داستان دلدادگی این دو بیشتر شد و در ادبیات غنایی و عرفانی فارسی، جایگاه خاصی یافت. از سده ششم به بعد، روایت تاریخی این داستان دگرگون شد و برخی از بزرگان عرصه ادب و عرفان، مانند احمد غزالی، عین القضات همدانی، عطار نیشابوری، مولوی و دیگران از آن برای تبیین مفاهیم عرفانی بهره بردند.
در سده‌های دهم و یازدهم هجری، داستان دلبستگی محمود به ایاز، مورد توجه شاعران قرار گرفت و چند مثنوی در اینباره سروده شد، که مثنوی محمود و ایاز زلالی خوانساری مشهورترین و شاخص‌ترین آنهاست. زلالی خوانساری، داستان عاشقانه ایاز و محمود را در هاله‌ای از مفاهیم عرفانی و معنوی به سلک نظم کشیده و شاخ و برگ بسیار بر واقعیت تاریخی آن افزوده‌است.
آرامگاه ملک ایاز هنوز هم در منطقه تجاری «رنگ محل» در لاهور دیده می‌شود. آرامگاه و باغ ایاز در دوران حکومت سیکها بر این منطقه تخریب شد اما پس از استقلال پاکستان دوباره بازسازی گردید.

After the death of Sultan Mahmud, the fame of the love story of these two increased and it found a special place in Persian lyrical and mystical literature. From the 6th century onwards, the historical narrative of this story was transformed and some great people in the field of literature and mysticism, such as Ahmad Ghazali, Ain al-Qadat Hamdani, Attar Neishaburi, Molavi and others used it to explain mystical concepts.
In the 10th and 11th centuries of Hijri, the story of Mahmud's love for Ayaz was noticed by poets and several masnavis were written about it, of which Mahmood and Ayaz Zalali Khansari's masnavi is the most famous and prominent among them. Zalali Khansari has arranged the love story of Ayaz and Mahmoud in an aura of mystical and spiritual concepts and added a lot of foliage to its historical reality.
The mausoleum of Malik Ayaz can still be seen in the Rang Mahal business district in Lahore. Ayaz's tomb and garden were destroyed during the Sikh rule over this area, but it was rebuilt after the independence of Pakistan.
