So you’ve got a prius and and now that it has 200,000 miles, you’re wondering why even though it still runs great, it just doesn’t feel as good as it did when it was new? Well here are the top 3 things that you can do to put some life back into it!

It comes down to compression (that’s the engine’s internals and nothing you can do on the outside can help that), fuel, air, spark, and timing.

We know, as mentioned above, we can’t restore compression with parts we throw at the outside of the motor, and timing is taken care of by the chain(for valves) and the computer will tell us if that stretches or worse as well as spark timing which the computer does on its own

Next is air! Air comes into your prius through the throttle body. If it’s sneaking in anywhere else, that’s a vacuum leak and you’ll likely get a check engine light for a “bank one too lean.” Just cleaning your throttle body make a mind blowing difference to how your prius idles and how smooth the ICE (internal combustion engine) turns on and off. So, 14.7 parts air to one part fuel is now in the motor and compressed- what can still go wrong? SPARK!!! It takes an electric spark for the explosion that makes the engine turn! Spark plugs are good for about 100,000 miles in these cars. They are easy to change and the gist of it is in this video. Perhaps I’ll do a step-by-step if enough people subscribe and comment and like :) be sure to get the toyota part number for your exact plugs and cross reference them and purchase from a trust worthy retailer!
