Yarn Over (yo) | Pascuali Filati Naturali

In this video we show you how to do a yarn over which is an indispensable part of lace knitting.  When you do a yarn over (abbreviated yo) you make an extra stitch on your needle. In this way, you create a deliberate hole in the fabric commonly used to make eyelets in lace patterns. Multiple yarn overs create drop stitch patterns. Yarn overs are the basis of brioche knitting and have a multitude of other applications such as decorative increases, buttonholes, and novelty stitch patterns.

Written Instructions

1. Prepare the yarn over by bringing the yarn to the front of your work between your two needles.
2. To make the yarn over, simply bring the strand of yarn over the needle between two existing stitches.
3. Continue knitting to the end of the row as per your pattern instructions.
4. Work the yarn over as a stitch when you work your way back to it in the next row.

Give it a try and have fun knitting!
