Adding styles to your text gives your document structure and allows you to make formatting changes that affect the whole document at once. By default, the text in your document uses the "Normal text" style, but you can also apply styles such as Title, Subtitle, and Heading. If you find some styles that you like, you can even save them as your default styles, which Google Docs will use for every new document you create. The heading styles you apply are also added to the document outline. This outline can be found to the left of the document. When you click a heading in the outline, it will jump to that part of the document. This is especially useful when working with longer docs. If you've used styles in Microsoft Word, you may find that Google Docs styles are much more limited. For example, Google Docs doesn't let you create new styles - you're limited to the built-in styles, although you can customize them however you like. However, styles in Google Docs are still fairly powerful. To learn more about Google Docs, check out our text-based lessons! https://edu.gcfglobal.org/en/googledocuments/
