If your meetings are ending and everyone goes their separate ways with different recollections of what happened…. you probably need to be taking more collaborative and shareable meeting notes.

Meeting notes should highlight what was accomplished, what responsibilities were given, and what decisions were made in your meeting.

To take great meeting notes,

1. Write the purpose

At the very top of your notes, state the purpose of your meeting that you identified.

2. Fill in the agenda

Fill in the meeting agenda document with more information. Usually this takes the form of two to five bullet points under each agenda topic that summarize key points and decisions.

3. Highlight decisions

Milestones and decisions should be highlighted to call them out for readability and skimming.

This provides a visual clue of hats important

4. Assign tasks.

All action items should be assigned to a directly responsible individual before the meeting engs.

5. SHARE the notes.

This means putting a meeting’s purpose, agenda, notes, and tasks in the same accessible, shareable place every time.
