Was the refreshed Amex Gold
Was the refreshed Amex Gold card destined to fall behind the competition from the start? American Express ignored a couple of really good competitor credit cards that are currently disrupting the travel credit card space and was this a decision that Amex would come to regret? I’m going to reveal the five credit cards that American Express compared the Gold card to, but before I get into that, if you haven’t watched my video on the Amex Gold card refresh, be sure to do so, because there are some details in that video that will completely surprise you. Don’t worry, I will link that video at the end of this one.
First up, let’s get straight into the competition. I will say, a lot of you most likely won’t agree with this list because it’s missing credit cards that I think should’ve been included. So American Expressed looked at the regular Capital One Venture card, the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Citi Premier, Bank of America Premium Rewards, and the Capital One Venture X. These are the top five credit cards that were looked at in the development stages of the revamped Amex Gold card, and I honestly think that American Express should have broadened their horizons to identify more accurate credit cards in this dining/travel credit card category.
