The Zastava M76 is a Yugoslavian designated marksman rifle. It is based on the AKM and is intended to fill the same roles as the Dragunov and the Romanian PSL.

This rifle was adopted in 1976 with around 15000 units made by Zastava. The M76 is essentially a scaled up version of the M70, which is a licensed copy of the AKM. It is chambered in the much more powerful 7.92x57mm cartridge, also known as 8mm Mauser, which is much better suited for long distance engagements. The firearm is semi automatic and feeds from a 10 round box magazine. The operation and disassembly of this firearm are essentially the same as other AK type rifles with a few minor differences, with the main one being the gas regulator located in the gas tube, which can be adjusted depending on the type of ammunition being used.

The M76 uses the same style of straight stock and pistol grip as the AKM, unlike the thumbhole stocks on the Dragunov and the PSL. This firearm is issued with a 4 power scope made by ZRAK with a built in rangefinder, as well as a infrared detector in some scopes as well. The scope is illuminated by tritium for nighttime use and brings the effective range of this weapon well past 700 meters and it can be quickly detached for storage or if it becomes damaged. This rifle also has backup tangent sights adjustable up to 1000m.
