Task Boxes and The TEACCH Method for Students w/Autism

The TEACCH method is an evidence-based program that was specifically designed for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and it stands for the Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication Handicapped Children method. One of the main tenets of the TEACCH method is to incorporate lots of structure in educational environments to help students with Autism learn, and incorporating task boxes into your session is an excellent way to do this! Not only do they add structure, task boxes are a wonderful tool to help your students learn how to transition between tasks, complete adult-led activities, and adhere to a visual schedule.
