Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the NuWave Infrared Cooking System. LINK to NuWave 20631 Oven Pro Plus:  http://amzn.to/2oj8oj7  It’s an As Seen on TV product that has been out for many years. The NuWave cooks food using infrared, conduction and convection heat. You can cook fresh and frozen food in this unit. With frozen food, you don’t have to defrost it, you can cook straight from the freezer which is convenient.
Also, the heat is contained inside the dome and shouldn’t heat up your house. You won’t need ventilation as this unit should produce little to no smoke. Of course we will test that out. The unit measures 13.5 inches tall,15.5 inches wide and weighs 9 lbs. It will take up some counter space. It uses up to 1500 watts and 12.5 amps. The inside is 12 inches in diameter and 6.5 inches deep. The cord is 33 inches long.
This is the easy cooking guide with cooking times for fresh and frozen food. The instruction manual has 50 pages of recipes for breakfast, appetizers, vegetables, meat and dessert.
Any pan that you can use in a regular oven can be used with this unit like foil, metal, glass or silicone. You can also line the pan with foil for easy clean up especially if you’re making bacon using the rack.
This is the base that should stay cool to the touch. It should not be put on your stove top. Put the enamel liner pan next. Make sure the handles are down. You can put food directly on this pan. Then goes the rack if you’re using it. You can cook one food on the pan and one on the rack at the same time. The plastic dome goes next, it fits into the base. Last is the power head that plugs in. Turn it clockwise to lock. This is the holder for the dome and head. There are programmable digital controls on the head. When lifting the dome to check food, use the handle on the head. To use the dome holder, slide it underneath the handle, the dome and head can rest on it.
Before using wash all parts except the head in warm soapy water or your dishwasher.
To cook, set the cook time and press start. When cooking, the default temperature is 350 degrees Fahrenheit. You can change the setting to Celsius. You can adjust the temperature depending on what you’re cooking by pressing cook temp. The cooking time is displayed and it will count down, the colon will blink. If you want to pause cooking at any time, press the Pause/Clear button once and you’ll see the time left and the colon will stop blinking. When time is up, the machine will beep and automatically stop cooking. Press the Pause/Clear button twice to stop and the display will show 0. You can cook just under 10 hours when cooking between 100 and 324 degrees Fahrenheit and up to 2 hours when cooking between 325 and 350 degrees. With the delay button, you can program the unit to wait up to 9 hours 59 minutes before cooking. If you want to heat up already cooked food, press the reheat button, start and it will heat for 4 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Let’s test the Nuwave out. First, I’ll try cooking a whole chicken. This is about 4.5 pounds. I’ve washed and dried the chicken and seasoned with a tsp of oil, salt and pepper. With whole chicken or turkey, cook it breast down first for half the cooking time. Then turn it over and cook it for the second half. I’ll set the time to 1 hour 30 minutes. About 20 minutes per pound is the average cook time. Put foil over the top if the chicken gets too brown.

While the chicken was cooking, there was no smoke at all. Of course the room smelled like roasted chicken and it was a good smell. There was no plasticky or unpleasant smell.
Next, I’ll make some frozen french fries. Put the fries on the rack with 3 inch height. The cook temperature is 350 and I’ll set it for 20 mins. Check them halfway and turn if necessary.

The warm button can be pressed to keep food warm after cooking, the default is 155 degrees Fahrenheit for 2 hours, you can program the time. It is best to remove food after it’s finished cooking. I’ll take the chicken out and put it on a plate. Let meat rest about 15 minutes before cutting into it. Cover loosely with some foil.
The Nuwave did an amazing job on the chicken and a great job on the french fries.
Unplug the unit and cool. To clean the head, just wipe with a damp cloth and dry.
