This video is an overview of the inflammatory response. Firstly, We go through the cardinal signs:
#Swelling, #tumor
#Redness, #palor
#heat, #calor
#pain, #dolor
#loss_of_function, #functio_laesa
And then the five steps of inflammation:
Recognition of the injurious agent
Recruitment of leukocytes
Removal of the offender
Regulation (control)
Resolution
So we cover the pathogenesis of an inflammatory response from a general point of view to pave the way for the next video getting into more details of Acute and Chronic Inflammation.
Next we discuss the outcomes of an initial inflammatory response which can be either of the following three:
complete resolution
#scar tissue or connective tissue formation
progression to chronic inflammation
Inflammation can also be categorized by its location into #local and #systemic.
local inflammation can also have systemic manifestation.
systemic inflammation in disseminated bacterial infection is called #sepsis .
