Everyone has a different way
Everyone has a different way of using drum samples! Leave a comment below and let me know how you do it!
We have a lot of very very wonderful questions this week beginning with, “If you’re using a kick sample, to avoid actually placing the sample manually for every kick hit, is there a program or method you use so that the sample you’re working with lines up with each kick hit?”
Yes! There are a couple of different things! – If you’re just using generic samples and you’re not using Addictive, Easy Drummer, Superior or the Slate Trigger- and you’re just manually placing them, in Pro Tools you can use what’s called sound replacer! I believe you can use ad load in three different samples and then you can blend them.
I answer the following questions during this week's FAQ Friday!
➡️ Is it better to edit and mix songs with headphones connected to your pc or to you interface? is there a big difference? (0:38)
➡️ What if you only have the backtrack and not the actual vocal how would you mix it while still leave the space for the vocal? (4:52)
➡️ How do you set the volume of multiple pieces of equipment? Such as your computer vs monitors/speakers vs audio interface. Do you set your monitors and computer to 100% and use the interface as the master volume? (6:01)
➡️ Should I "edit first" and then align and check phase on all the tracks? or align fix any phase issues and the do all my edits? (7:51 )
➡️ Regarding clarity, could you illustrate the conflicts that you address when trying to get clarity in a mix? (I.e., accentuate them somehow so we can hear them clearly? As clear as YouTube will allow anyway.) (9:17)
➡️ If you're using a kick sample to avoid actually placing the sample manually for every kick hit is there a program or method you use so that the sample you're working with lines up with each kick hit. (11:55)
➡️ In what situations would you use a dynamic, condenser or ribbon for the kick out? (14:07)
