The Project 22220 (LK-60YA) "Arktika" icebreakers are unique two-stage nuclear icebreakers. Thanks to the use of variable draft, Arctic-class icebreakers can work effectively both in deep water and in shallow water in the beds of Siberian rivers. This allows the 22220 project to replace two types of icebreakers at once, the Arctic and the Taimyr. Sometimes, this type of icebreaker is called LK-60YA, which stands for an icebreaker with a capacity of 60 MW with a nuclear power plant, in the future they were called "Arctic".
