Apart from Khayal, Tappa and Tarana, the Gwalior Gharana also has a strong link with Thumri singing. The great grandson of Ustad Inayat Hussain Khan of Rampur, Rashid Khan is adept at singing Thumris of his native place, Uttar Pradesh. ‘Shyam Sundar Banwari’ is one such old, traditional Thumri that has been rendered by the great Rashid Khan in his own supreme way.
