Coolangatta and Tweed Heads are known as the 'twin towns'. Coolangatta on the southern most end of the Queensland coast is almost inseparable from Tweed Heads on the northern coast of New South Wales. Coolangatta has been a popular resort since it was first settled by convicts released from Brisbane, in the late 19th century.
