It wasn't the first time a 300 game was bowled on television, but it was the first time a 300 game was captured on film or videotape and preserved for later viewing on television.  And it happened on Championship Bowling, which, in 1954, originated from Faetz-Niesen Recreation in Chicago, IL.  Steve Nagy etched his name in bowling history with his 300 game, which had viewers on the edge of their seats.  Today, the PBA's sportsmanship award is named for Steve Nagy, who was known as one of the nicest guys on tour prior to his death which cut short a stellar career.  "Whisperin'" Joe Wilson has the call.
