Explosion Destroys Virginia Home After Suspect Fires Flare Gun Several Times

A large explosion occurred in Arlington, Virginia on Monday, December 4, after a suspect “discharged several rounds” of a flare gun inside their home, police said. Officers went to the duplex in the 800 block of Burlington Street in Bluemont, a neighborhood in north Arlington, at about 4:45 p.m. after receiving reports of shots being fired, the Arlington County Police Department said. A suspect, who was not named, fired a flare gun 30 or 40 times from his home into the neighborhood, police said.
