Next point wins, that’s the simplest way to put golden point extra time in the rugby league as both teams have 10 minutes to score a point to win the match. Instead of kicking a field goal, these teams did this the hard way as they ended up scoring a try to win the match for their team. Including State of Origin and tri nations matches, there have been 29 game winning tries in golden point extra time and 16 of those were from 2010-2021. We unfortunately don’t have the resources necessary to obtain footage for every match of the pre 2010’s, which is why this list is narrowed down to tries from 2010-2021.
Also Michael Morgan’s game winning try in the 2016 semi final between the Cowboys and the Broncos will unfortunately not be considered for this list, as it was in extra time and not golden point extra time.
