Souks are an integral part of Arabic culture. They are the essential marketplaces of Northern Africa and the Middle East. As the main arteries of commerce for Muslim communities throughout the region, they draw throngs of shoppers to their crowded and narrow streets. Small shops and vendor stalls line these busy passageways, where sellers lure potential customers with raucous cat calls and the tempting promise of enticing promotions. Haggling over the best price is certainly an art form here. It is easy (and fun) to get lost amidst this dizzying maze of Islamic life. The joy of discovery lurks around every corner. There is archeological evidence to suggest that souks have been in continuous existence for nearly 5000 years. As early rural and pastoral life gave way to walled cities, these covered street markets formed along major trade routes within the region. Soon they became the beating heart of everyday life. Today souks continue to thrive in the medinas — or old quarters of numerous Islamic cities. Walking these crowded thoroughfares, it is easy to imagine what life must have been like in the distant past. The more things change, the more they stay the same. #souks #istanbul #revengetravel If you are interested in Istanbul, you might also like a stroll across the famed Galata Bridge across the legendary Bosphorus Strait: https://www.seevid.ir/fa/w/8Bc1QS5rPWc https://www.seevid.ir/fa/w/NH2l3n_XUZk Introduction to Souks https://www.seevid.ir/fa/w/NH2l3n_XUZk Prayer Call https://www.seevid.ir/fa/w/NH2l3n_XUZk History of Souks https://www.seevid.ir/fa/w/NH2l3n_XUZk Spice Bazaar
