Hautaloitsu (Finland) — Saastaisesta Valosta Periytynyt — 2024 EP

The second offering of this Finnish act.


The EP opens with a dungeon synth intro, a fine precursor that sets a haunting tone. This choice of introduction is reminiscent of the old school era, creating a sense of anticipation and drawing listeners into the band's dark, immersive world.

Following this prelude, the music transitions into well-tempered black metal. Unlike their harsher debut, Hautaloitsu now takes a slightly softer, clearer path without sacrificing the essential elements of their sound. The production is polished, allowing each instrument to breathe and each note to be heard distinctly, even the bass and guitar interplay. This clarity does not dilute the intensity; rather, it highlights the  compositional value of this act.

The EP maintains the quintessential Finnish black metal aesthetic; icy riffs, relentless drumming, and an overarching atmosphere of melancholy and dread, but undoubtedly true to their roots.
