TOOL'S YOU'LL NEED
Bowl
Cookie tray or scone mold
Pastry cutter
parchment paper

PREP AHEAD
Pre-measure ingredients
Heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit

INGREDIENTS:
1 Egg
2 cups of all-purpose flour, more as needed
1⁄2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
4 tablespoons sugar
1 stick of cold butter, cut into pieces
Zest and juice of 2 small oranges
1-3 tablespoons of cold water (if the dough is dry)

STEPS TO COOK:
1. Put the flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar in a bowl. Add the egg, the zest of the oranges. and their juice.

2. Cut the cold butter into 1/2 inch size pieces and add to the bowl.

3. Using a pastry cutter (or your hands), mix all ingredients until the dough looks crumbly. If it's too dry, add 1 or 2 tablespoons of cold water. If you use your hands, work quickly so that the butter does not melt and the dough becomes very sticky. If the dough is too sticky, you'll have to put it in the fridge for about 20 minutes before forming the scones.

4.Once you have a crumbly mixture, turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and press it into a 3/4-inch thick circle. Then cut into triangles or cut 2-inch rounds with a biscuit butter or cookie cutter.

5. Put the scones on an ungreased baking sheet that is layered with parchment paper. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until the scones are a beautiful golden brown. Serve immediately. Enjoy with jam.
