RADIO - A very Canadian history, eh!

This is a brief history of the invention and adoption of radio in Canada. Remarkably, it took the research and development of several pioneering giants from around the world to study and develop theories in electromagnetism and radio waves to finally produce the first proof-of-concept AM radio transmitter. Reginald Fessenden, credited with being the father of modern radio, went on to hold over 500 patents in various fields throughout his life.

The actual radio mast featured in this video is located on 6th line in Georgetown, Ontario, Canada, and was filmed in late September of 2023. It is almost 750 feet tall, and reaches most of the GTA with its programming. It broadcasts CHLO radio in both regular and also hi-definition on the AM dial. CHLO broadcasts in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, English, Spanish, Filipino, Croation & Spanish, and is owned and operated by Evanov Communications.
