One of the most challenging and difficult things is to admit a mistake and ask for forgiveness. On Yom Kippur we ask for both personal and communal forgiveness. What is unique in the Jewish tradition is the communal way we confess our sins. The Vidui(Confession) is chanted together in a major mode, taking pride in the fact that we make room, both in our sanctuary and in our hearts, for all people to repent.
Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove shared a fascinating story about forgiveness between cantors as an introduction to both Vidui, and to our album ‘Heritage’ which was released last year. It is beautiful and educational moments like that which makes me look forward to our High Holidays services every year.
We hope that his words, along with our musical confession, help and encourage you to look within and create space for admission and forgiveness in your own heart.
