The Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (ALIF) procedure is for treatment of lower back pain for degenerative spine conditions. Mark Kerner, M.D., a spinal surgeon at HROSM, is one of the only physicians in Hampton Roads who performs this procedure. In fact, the ALIF surgery was also performed on golf champion Tiger Woods in 2017, before he won the Masters Tournament in 2019.
