Hello I’m Chris Bottger and welcome back to another album review.
Today I am going to be looking at the Beatles’ very first studio album, 1963’s Please Please Me. While the Beatles would have a somewhat complicated release history in the US, Please Please Me is both the first of their UK album discography as well as their first album released overall, although it would not be released in the United States with this title or track listing until much later.
Present throughout this album is a very good sense of energy from the band as well as what I like to call the “Early Beatles Feel.” Unlike the band’s later albums, the first several Beatles albums feature songs by Paul McCartney and John Lennon interspersed with cover songs. Please Please Me is no exception and is as such comprised of a combination of pop ballads and more out and out rock songs.
