How to draw lewis structures in 3D - Dr K

In this video, we are going to explore how to draw lewis structures in 3D. We will be going through molecules with steric number 2, 3 and 4. The 3D geometries we will be drawing are linear, triangular, bent/angular, tetrahedral and trigonal pyramidal. The molecules we will be using as examples are HCN, BCl3, SO2, CF4, NF3 and H2Se.

For molecules that have atoms on the same plane, they are represented by solid bonds. That's evident in linear, triangular and bent/angular. However, tetrahedral and trigonal pyramidal have wedge bonds where the solid wedge represents bond pointing forward while dash wedge represents bond pointing backward.
